How to Use a Password Reset Disk in Windows 11

A password reset disk is a portable media that you can use to reset your Windows 11 password in the event that you forget it. There are two ways to create a password reset disk: using the Password Reset Wizard in Control Panel, or by using the Command Prompt.

If you forget your password and don't have a password reset disk, you'll need to reinstall Windows. To create a password reset disk in Windows 11 using the Password Reset Wizard, follow these steps:

1. Open the Password Reset Wizard by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, clicking User Accounts, and then clicking Create a password reset disk. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. In the Password Reset Wizard, click Next, and then insert a blank USB flash drive into your computer.

3. Follow the instructions in the wizard to create your password reset disk.

4. When you're finished, click Next, and then click Finish.

5. Store the password reset disk in a safe place.

If you forget your password and don't have a password reset disk, you can still reset your password by using the Command Prompt. To do this, follow these steps:
