If you forgot your Windows 8 password, there are a few different ways that you can go about resetting it. Depending on how you have your computer set up, you may be able to reset your password using a password reset disk or by using an administrator account. If you don't have a password reset disk or an administrator account, you can still reset your password by using a Windows 8 installation disc.

If you have a password reset disk, you can use it to reset your password. To use a password reset disk, you'll need to have created one before you forgot your password. If you don't have a password reset disk, you can create one now. To create a password reset disk in Windows 8, open the Control Panel and click User Accounts. Under the User Accounts heading, click Create a password reset disk. This will open the Password Reset Disk Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard to create your password reset disk.

Once you have your password reset disk, insert it into your computer and restart your computer. When you see the "Please insert disk" message, press a key to boot from the disk. On the Password Reset Wizard screen, click Next. Select the drive that contains your password reset disk, and then click Next. Enter your new password, and then click Next. You'll be asked to confirm your new password. Enter it again, and then click Next. You'll be asked to create a hint for your new password. This hint will be displayed if you forget your password in the future. Enter a hint, and then click Next. Click Finish, and then click Restart.

If you have an administrator account, you can use it to reset your password. To do this, open the Control Panel and click User Accounts. Under the User Accounts heading, click Change your password. Enter your current password, and then enter your new password. You'll be asked to confirm your new password. Enter it again, and then click Change Password. You'll be asked to provide a hint for your new password. This hint will be displayed if you forget your password in the future. Enter a hint, and then click Change Password. Click OK, and then click Restart.

If you don't have a password reset disk or an administrator account, you can still reset your password by using a Windows 8 installation disc. To do this, insert your Windows 8 installation disc into your computer and restart your computer. When you see the "Please select a language" screen, select your language and then click Next. On the "Install now" screen, click Repair your computer. On the "Choose an option" screen, click Troubleshoot. On the "Advanced options" screen, click Command Prompt.

At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing Enter after each command:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Type exit and press Enter to close the Command Prompt window. On the "Choose an option" screen, click Continue. Your computer will restart and you'll be able to log in with your new password.
