How to Change or Reset Domain Password in Windows Server 2008/2003/2000 Active Directory

Assuming that you have forgotten your domain password in Windows Server 2008/2003/2000 Active Directory and want to change or reset it, there are a few ways you can go about doing this. One way is to use the Kon-Boot software, which is considered to be the best solution for this problem.

If you have physical access to the server, the first thing you need to do is boot into the Recovery Console. Once you are in the Recovery Console, you need to type in the following commands:

cd \windows\system32\config

ren default default.old

ren security security.old

ren software software.old

ren sam sam.old

ren system system.old

exit

Reboot the server and you should now be able to login with the new password.

If you don�t have physical access to the server, you can try using the L0phtCrack software. This software will allow you to crack the password of any user account on the server.

Once you have installed the software, launch it and select the �Add to Project� option. In the �Add to Project� window, select the �Windows Password� option and click �OK�.

In the next window, select the �Local Accounts� option and click �Next�.

Now, select the user account whose password you want to crack and click �Next�.

L0phtCrack will now start cracking the password. Once it has cracked the password, you will be able to see it in the �Password� field.

If you want to reset the domain password, you can use the Net User command. To do this, you need to open the Command Prompt and type in the following command:

net user [username] [password] /domain

Replace [username] with the username of the account you want to reset the password for and [password] with the new password.

If you want to change the domain password, you can use the Set Command. To do this, you need to open the Command Prompt and type in the following command:

set password=[password]

Replace [password] with the new password.
